All The Things Magazine

All the Things is an editorial design project that explores how visual decisions can shape the reading experience of a magazine. For this magazine project, I was interested in exploring the potential for layout, typography, and color to contribute to the tone of each article while maintaining a cohesive look for the entire publication. The greatest challenge was balancing the visual variety of individual articles with a sense of cohesion or consistency. In All the Things, each article was treated in a manner appropriate to its content, but I tied it all together with a consistent grid system and a typographic hierarchy so that the magazine would feel consistent across each page. I utilized bold blocks of colors, layering techniques, and different scales to add rhythm and movement across the pages. The graphics were intended to reinforce the content of the articles and guide the reader’s eye across the pages without becoming too dominant. This allowed the magazine to be visually interesting while remaining organized and easily readable.
